The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse is our Nurture Class, currently for children in upper key-stage two.

I am a lighthouse, a shining and bright house!

A nurture class is a small group (usually from 4 to 10 children, depending on needs) where pupils spend part of their school week, working with a teacher who has been trained in the nurture approach.

Nurture groups give children the chance to spend part of their learning week away from a larger class setting - and instead to do their learning in a more relaxed setting.  In The Lighthouse, alongside our learning in maths, reading and project-work, we have a special focus on being a group together: sharing breakfast and lunch together each day, and supporting each other and the group.
