Year 6 Girls Footballers meet an Oxford United Star!
What a wonderful day of all things sport related for some of our year 6 sportswomen today. First off, the year 6 girls took part in a workshop related to resilience run by Rob our OUFC coach. After that we were lucky enough to welcome Jenna Legg - OUFC Women’s captain to school. There was an interview and Q&A session afterwards where the girls asked her some really wonderful questions - and got some very important answers: it’s Messi not Ronaldo for Jenna!
This afternoon a group of Y6 girls went to a football
tournament at Oxford High School. It was a fun afternoon and we somehow managed to dodge the rain!
In the words of Kavya, Maisie and Milena:
Early in the morning, I felt extremely excited for I knew we were going to a football tournament to compete against other schools.
While we were in our lesson, an unexpected surprise arrived! A footballer, who was called Jenna and is an Oxford United football player), came into our classroom and talked to us. She was lovely, kind and amazing. She told us about herself and she also gave us some tips for football and that we should never give up and always be proud of ourselves. Later on, Jenna signed our pictures of her and took a photo with us. When I approached her, I felt my cheeks flush red: I have never seen a professional footballer standing right next to me!
After the exciting event of meeting Jenna, we were called by Ms Holman (our deputy headteacher) to get ready for our tournament. As we rushed to get changed, I felt a surge of excitement and nervousness in my stomach.
The football tournament was so much fun and we got six penalties!
