Computing

At Wood Farm School we recognise the importance of technology in our children’s lives in the ever-adapting technological world that we live in. Due to this, we teach children how to use technology safely through our Computing curriculum as well as our RSE curriculum.

Our Curriculum is delivered by our class teachers using “Teach Computing”, a scheme of work which is created by the National Centre for Computing Education. It covers the four areas of the computing curriculum: Computing systems and networks, Programming, Data and Information, and Creating Media. Alongside this, children will use technology in other areas of our whole school curriculum to support their learning.

What you will see:

  • Children using a range of technology for programming: bee-bots, Scratch, Logo, micro-bits.
  • Children creating a range of different media: using word, editing music, editing photos.
  • Active learning to represent network systems.
  • Using technology to support them with their learning of times tables.
  • Using technology to support children to access areas of the curriculum where necessary.

What you will hear:

  • Children using technological words to describe how networks work.
  • Children excited about their creations using technology.
  • Children working in a team to solve problems.
