Reach Higher

I challenge myself

I aim high, and I'm not put off if things seem hard

I know I can be part of the best

See Further

I'm imaginative - I like ideas, and I like other people's ideas

I know about different places in the world

I'm good at coming up with different possibilities

Shine Brighter

I get on well with other people

I'm proud of what I do well, I'm proud of my school and I know where I'm going

I'll help you shine too!

Sport and PE

Sport and Physical Education form an important part of our curriculum.  Children have weekly PE lessons throughout the year, making use of our extensive indoor and outdoor facilities.  Teaching is carried out both by our own teaching staff and by specialist coaches.

In Years 3, 4 and 5 all children have swimming instruction in one of our local pools, with further teaching available during Year 6 for those children who may not have become confident at swimming 25 metres.

Children at Wood Farm School have the opportunity to take part in a range of different sporting activities in addition to the school curriculum, including after school sports and activity clubs.  In addition teams respresenting our school take part in competitive sport throughout the year - including inter-school football and athletics competitions.

The P.E. curriculum is delivered through 'Real P.E.', a scheme of work based on developing fundamental movement skills; agility, balance and coordination. These skills are taught alongside inclusive competition and other personal and social skills. A central focus on 'Real P.E.' is to help all children to become physically literate by developing their fundamental movement skills. These are the building blocks that underpin the ability to play and be involved in many different sports and activities.

Sports taught at Wood Farm School include football, tag rugby, cricket, tennis, netball, dance, gymnastics, multi-skills and athletics. Children have also taken part in competitive running events.
